A 24-year-old boy was arrested by the Bandra police on Saturday after he knocked two police constables off their motorbike while driving rashly in Bandra on Friday evening.

According to the police, the incident took place around 8:30pm on Carter Road. The constables, Vishwas Maske and Yogesh Namdas, from the Bandra police station were patrolling the area when Ishant Tandon, an Andheri resident, crashed his car into their bike from the rear. The constables were thrown off with the impact.

Tandon was driving his Maruti A-Star at a very high speed, the police said. Even after the collision, he could not stop the vehicle until a few metres ahead.

Locals pulled Tandon out of the car and the commotion alerted nearby policemen from the regional quick response team, stationed outside the officer of the additional commissioner of police, west region.

They reached the spot and rushed both the constables to Lilavati Hospital. Their condition is stable. “Tandon was taken into police custody. He has been charged with causing hurt due to rash and negligent driving. He is a college student and stays with his family in Lokhandwala,” said an officer.
