Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain has been nominated for the 52nd Grammy award in the Best Classical Crossover album category for the album The Melody of Rhythm.

Tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain has been nominated for the 52nd Grammy award in the Best Classical Crossover album category for the album The Melody of Rhythm.

The Melody of Rhythm features Leonard Slatkin, conductor; Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer (Detroit Symphony Orchestra).

Earlier, Zakir Hussain has won the Grammy in the Contemporary World Music Album category for his collaborative album Global Drum Project along with Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo in February 2009.

In 1992 for Planet Drum, an album co-created and produced by Hussain and Mickey Hart, he was awarded the first-ever Grammy for Best World Music Album.
