He is back with a bang. He has lost weight and is looking slimmer than ever.

“The secret behind my look is good health. I had reached a point where I needed to concentrate on my well-being, do a reality check and get back in control,” he says.

And he promises that there is hope for the future as he gets ready to release his new album Kisi Din on April 12.

We are talking about Adnan Sami who looks and sounds fresher than ever as we catch up with him over the phone.

What's the secret?

Life is rocking for Adnan and he cannot keep his happiness to himself.

“By God’s grace, I am happy ,” he says. It shows.

The 10-track album (excluding the three remixes) is all about a positive frame of mind.

“I am at a time in my life where I need to move on. Now my audience is also ready for it. It is always nice to branch out in a different direction,” adds Adnan who is releasing an album after a gap of three years.

Romance is the key
He loves to call himself a romantic. This was evident in his previous two albums, Kabhi To Nazar Milao and Tera Chehra and there was a note of melancholy in most of the songs, especially the title tracks that lend the album its name.

Adnan agrees. “It reflects my frame of mind. I am looking towards a future, which holds promises of many opportunities. I am enjoying my work intensely. It is an integral part of who I am,” adds Adnan who has also worked quite hard on the album in terms of the musical arrangement, compositions and lyrics.

“I have tried to do away with things that were considered my trademark. There’s no dholak or tabla in Kisi Din. But yes, one thing that will always be there is melody, a quintessentially Indian one.”

The first music video Teri yaad is already on air but unlike Adnan’s favourite heroines it features a newcomer, Avanne. Actors like Ameesha Patel, Namrata Shirodkar and Rani Mukerji featured in Tera Chehra.

“Let’s see whether the other songs will have Bollywood heroines or not,” Adnan says. The next music video Kisi din will have item girl Yana Gupta.

Up next?
Adnan, who's recently sung for the films Salaam-e-Ishq and Life In A Metro, says that he needs to strike a perfect balance right now. Besides that, he is also back in Bollywood composing for banners like Ke Sera Sera and a couple of others.
