Here’s another Indian all set to make his debut in Hollywood. Gaurav Dayal, who previously composed music for Onir’s Sorry Bhai (2008), has contributed for the upcoming Warner Brothers’ film, Cinderella Story 3. His track ‘Bollywood theme…’, a combination of western and Indian beats, has been bought by Warner Brothers for a particular dance sequence in the fairytale movie.
However, Dayal, who also runs a music label called Beatfactory Music, mentions that it’s not the first time he’s rubbed shoulders with international artistes. Dayal adds that he has “programmed and produced Shakira’s song ‘Gypsy…’ (from Shewolf) as well as others by Wyclef Jean and Jerry Wonda.” “Jerry had come down to India when I was composing an album for Neha Bhasin (ex-member of Viva). That’s when he came across a track of mine called ‘Bolly break…’ that was not used in Neha’s album. He liked it and called me to New York to work on ‘Gypsy...’ with Wyclef and Shakira,” he says. Ask him how Cinderella Story 3 came about, and he says, “I had sent several tracks to my agent in San Francisco. Last week, I came to know that Warner liked my track and wanted to incorporate it into the film.”
Gaurav also says that his label has composed, arranged, and produced an EP of a Philadelphia-based band Abstract Method. On the Bollywood front, he mentions, “I’m also composing music for Onir’s next film. There are other Bollywood projects lined up as well, but they’re too premature to be talked about.”
