Romanian band Akcent, which shot to fame with the hit ‘That’s my name’, will play in Mumbai on February 1. The show, which will take place in Panvel, will be held on the campus of the Pillai Group of Institutions. The performance is part of their college fest, Alegria 2013, which starts this year.

Adrian Sina of Akcent says, “We are excited to be playing for such a large audience and are eagerly looking forward to the show.” It will be an hour-long performance and DJ Tinu Arora will be the opening act.

Aarnavv Shirshat of 3rd Rock Entertainment, organisers of the show, says, “Akcent had performed at the Indian Institute of Technology in Powai sometime back. After that, there was a huge demand for a performance from all students. In preparation for the show, the college has even constructed a permanent stage on its campus.”

Keeping in mind the popularity of the band, the college has kept entry open to the general public, though at premium prices. Tickets for collegians will be priced at Rs 100, while others will have to pay between Rs 750 to Rs 1,000. The organisers are expecting a crowd of about 15,000 people.

Incidentally, DJ Edward Maya, who produced the song ‘That’s my name’, came out with a similar version titled, ‘Stereo love’. The number also topped charts all over the world. Moreover, even Maya is performing in Mumbai in February.
