Bollywood music-composer Anu Malik’s daughter Anmol, who has so far lent her voice in few of his compositions, has written-composed and sung her own song ‘The Graduation...’, for the first time. The song is released digitally on To Anmol, who just completed her graduation, this was a tribute to the good old academic days.

“It’s very close to my heart, because it’s centered around my friends. I wrote the song after finishing class 12, but composed it fully only after my graduation,” says Anmol.

The song, she claims, has drawn huge appreciation from industry stalwarts, “I am happy that Aamir Khan liked it and put it on his fan page. Even Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Raju Hirani and Ayan Mukherjee have shown huge appreciation,” she says.

However, the young singer has no plans to become a music composer as of now, “I am not entering the industry to be a composer. I just wanted to show that I could create something. I am mostly a singer; I write my own stuff, but that’s only for expression, says the 21-year-old, adding, “Since my dad is a music composer, I think it’s in my genes to do so. I love singing and it depends on how I want to express myself.” Also, she has no plans to cut an independent album either, “I haven’t thought of creating an album, but I am happy with the type of feedback the song has received,” she says. Anmol made her debut as a singer in Salman Khan-Karishma Kapoor starrer Biwi No 1 (1999) at the age of eight.

Next, she will be singing in filmmaker Nitin Manmohan’s upcoming movie, Gali Gali Mein Shor Hain, for which her father has directed the music.
