Selena Gomez has been making a lot of headlines of late and it's not just because of her much-publicised split with Justin Bieber. The 20-year-old singer created quite a buzz as she debuted her latest song Come And Get It at the MTV Movie Awards 2013 in flashy red attire.
Sporting what looked like bindis on the forehead, Selena and her troupe performed on the song, which has Indian beats like the tabla and vocals as well. The actress was also seen wearing a golden payal (or a very Indian looking anklet) as she performed a sensuous act, complete with some Indian looking mudras at the end.
Before the ceremony began, the actress expressed her jitters. "I'm nervous, I really am," she said on the red carpet, adding, "We've worked on it for the past six days, and hopefully it'll pay off."
Jason Evigan, who collaborated on Gomez's new material, had earlier told Billboard, "I think it's (the song) going to take her (Selena) to the next level… She's got some really cool like ethnic influence, kind of tribally dance drums and stuff like that. I kind of feel she's going to be like a new J.Lo kind of thing."
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton also seemed to have enjoyed the performance and even called her a 'Bombay Princess', whatever that means! He wrote, "Gurl put the seksi into seksilicious with her MTV Movie Awards performance! She's like the Bombay princess we've always dreamed about! Her performance could have been even HAWT-er - true, she's not the best at live vocals - but we're still giving her a thumbs up for being such a Bollywood babe."
