If reports are to believed, then India’s favourite Canadian rocker Bryan Adams will be returning for a multi-city tour of India early next year. Organised by Netsurf Entertainment, Adams will be playing in Mumbai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Hyderabad, come February 2011.
Interestingly, that is also the same time British electronic gurus The Prodigy will be playing at the Only Much Louder’s Invasion Festival in the nation.
Even though the website makes this claim, there seems to be no buzz about the fact that Adams will be touring India in what would be his fourth tour of the country.
He’s toured the sub-continent thrice before in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He also played in Karachi in 2006. The aging rock/pop star’s album, Best of Bryan Adams, still maintains its pole position on Indian charts and his track ‘Summer of ‘69’ is still the most requested karaoke song in Mumbai nightclubs, according to an HT Survey.
Amidst rumours that he may be reliving his mosh pit days in India, there are still major question marks being raised about the famed rocker’s tour.
For one, the artistes website does not state the supposed Indian tour dates and does not list any Indian city dates in 2011. When contacted, Terry Rhodes, Adam’s booking agent in USA remained silent on the topic. “We cannot confirm that Bryan Adams will be playing anytime soon in India,” Rhodes said.
Netsurf Entertainment remains unavailable for comment. Their mysterious website that claims the city wide tour in February has so far sent out no information about Adams’ India tour. Moreover, there is no contact information given on venues and how to buy passes.
All this is quite reminiscent of the hoax India tour that cult dirty hair metal group Guns ‘N’ Roses were supposed to embark on last year, organised by Rhapsody Inc. The group announced the band’s India tour, followed immediately by the band issuing statements that they were not coming down.
For now, the ball is in Netsurf Entertainment’s court to confirm whether Bryan Adams is coming to India or not.
