On Friday (September 16) the R&B star Usher will release his latest album Hard II Love. Here’s a look back at the artist’s career in six videos.

Can U Get Wit It (1994)

The young Usher Raymond IV was just 16 years old when he released his self-titled debut album Usher, featuring the track Can U Get Wit It, all the way back in 1994. The teen can be seen alongside his mentor at the time, P Diddy. The album was a commercial success.

You Make Me Wanna (1997)

Three years later, Usher returned with a second album called My Way, ramping up his image as a smooth seducer. He once again scored a hit.

The Faculty (1998)

The young singer tried his hand at acting in teen movie The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez, starring alongside Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings) and Josh Hartnett (Virgin Suicides).

U Got It Bad (2001)

The 1990s ended but Usher’s success continued into the noughties. The artist returned with the album 8701, featuring the track U Got It Bad. His solid base of fans in the English-speaking world expanded thanks to growing popularity in European markets.

Scream (2012)

Early in the next decade, the singer switched his usual R&B style for a more dance-inspired sound with the album Looking 4 Myself, featuring the track Scream.

No Limit (2016)
