While Chris Martin and his band Coldplay stole the show at MMRDA last night, Bollywood too, made its presence felt with their adrenaline-pumping performances. Starting with Sonakshi Sinha, who performed on stage for the first time, to Amitabh Bachchan reciting a poem, and finally, Ranveer Singh dancing to his popular tracks, every one ensured that they brought out a new and unique side to their personalities at the eight-hour-long concert.
A R Rahman
The music maestro was definitely one of the highlights of the show as he performed to some of his hit tracks. He started the concert with an instrumental piece and then sang Tu Hi Re, followed by the Tamil version of Hamma Hamma and finally, Dil se re. When Hamma played, the crowd went berserk, dancing to the catchy tune. The other highlight was when he took to the stage at the end with Chris Martin to sing Maa Tujhe Salaam.
In his trademark Bandhgala suit, Amitabh Bachchan took to the stage with The Shillong Chamber Choir to recite a few lines of the famous poem from his film ‘Pink’, highlighting the cause of women empowerment. He also took to the stage with when Farhan Akhtar invited him on stage to sing to Yaari Teri Yaari from their film Wazir while Farhan played the guitar.
Live-wire Ranveer Singh was the last Bollywood performance for the night and he made sure he didn’t disappoint. The actor first started his performance with a song from Befikre, his upcoming film. People, of course couldn’t stop dancing when he came on stage with his infectious energy. The highlight of his performance, however, was the Bajirao get-up that he came in towards the end. Ranveer dressed up like his character Bajirao from his last film, Bajirao Mastani.
After Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy finished their performance, Farhan Akhtar took over the stage with his band and crooned to a few tracks. He sang the popular track Sinbad the Sailor from his debut film Rock On!!. After that, he wanted to have some fun so he sung Hawan Karenge from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which had a few people grooving to the beats.
The latest actor turned singer on the block, Sonakshi Sinha took to the stage with her rendition of Har Kissi Ko Nahi Milta. The visibly excited actor was high-on-energy while she belted out tracks but since her performance was towards the start of the show, the audience was still walking in.
