If hospitals send shivers down your spine, here’s a better atmosphere to donate blood in. Head to Inorbit Mall, Malad today afternoon and make a worthwhile contribution in the midst of a day-long concert by local rock bands.
Rush Of Blood, a unique musical blood donation drive is the result of a collaboration between NGO Youth For People and The Bombay Rock Association. Fourteen bands, including Airport, Romir, Something Relevant, Translucent and Mohan from Agnee will be participating, and are mighty kicked at the opportunity to contribute to the drive. “Rush Of Blood a good deed in a weary world, and we’re really happy to be a small part of it,” says a member of rock band, Airport.
The event has been conceptualised in a way that citizens can watch the rock bands play live music throughout the day, and donate blood simultaneously. It arises from the need to encourage Indians, especially the youth, to donate blood.
“We believe that the youth has the power to do awesome things,” says Dipesh Tank, founder of Youth For People. “The idea is to start the culture of donating blood.” And what better way to do it than with music? “We’re using music as a means to highlight issues and causes. This is our way of directing attention to a critical cause in the country,” concludes Sujeet Ramanna, president, Tne Bombay Rock Association.
The Rush of Blood concert and blood donation drive will be held today from 12 noon onwards at Inorbit Mall, Malad.
