Kirti, along with gospel vocalists like Anil, Reena and Shreya Kant are set to jazz up Xtra Utsav, a creative arts and festival that will be held on November 5 at Stanislaus School Grounds

in Bandra (W).



While the event’s itinerary also boasts of performances by bands such as H2H, Yeshua & The Wall and Jazz Funk as well as an act by dance company Splitsole among others. The organisers will invite people to indulge in creative activities such as short film making, photography and mobile video shooting contests at the event.



"We have set up a special Open-Mic zone which allows people to express themselves through comedy, poetry, drama or whatever medium they choose," says Naomi Hendricks, spokesperson of NGO New Life Movement International, that is sponsoring the event.



Delhi BellyThe NGO has also put forth a wide array of events specially-designed to appeal to people’s creative side. "Every person is creative in his or her own way and Xtra Utsav is a first-of-its-kind event which strives to showcase every individual’s innate creativity. Be it dance, drama, comedy or music, we hope to draw out the hidden talent among each one of us," adds Naomi.



Various industry professionals such as Naveen Kumar, Peter Hendricks, Subi Samuel will judge and encourage the participants. Xtra Utsav also plans to establish Xcel Schools in five slum communities across Mumbai. "Xcel School is an initiative that endeavours to provide poor children with practical knowledge, the kind that is hardly ever found in the school textbooks," says Naomi, adding that, "Xcel Schools comprise of three seven-week terms, which provide specialised training in dance, drama, vocals and creative arts."



Xtra Utsav is scheduled to be held on November 5 at Stanislaus School Grounds, Bandra (W) 3 pm onwards.
