Delhi gets musical

With three upcoming music festivals offering a variety of acts, Delhi stands spoiled for choice.

As the year comes to an end, the Capital is ready to witness some of the biggest music festivals in the country. With a host of artists performing under one roof, these festivals are striving to bridge the gap between international and local acts. And, most importantly, unlike an individual artist/band’s concert, these concerts will have the audience groove to live music for hours together. Here are three such affairs to look forward to.

Singer-Lucky-Ali

NH7 Weekender
One of the most anticipated music festivals and a favourite of the music lovers — NH7 is a crowd favourite. The two-day festival focuses not only on music but appreciates other forms of art too. It will take place at the Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, and the attendees can browse through stalls offering a variety of clothes, quirky household products, party merchandise and a range of exciting accessories, among other things. There’s also a PETA Youth stall, for those who would like to show their support to the NGO’s efforts in spreading awareness about animal rights.

Peace one day festival
The festival is organised to celebrate World Peace Day (which was observed globally on September 21) and the message coming out of the festival is definitely of making music and not war. Peace One Day’s objective is to institutionalise Peace Day on September 21, making it a day that is self-sustaining, an annual day of global unity and inter-cultural cooperation. To be held through out the day on November 23 at Zorba, (near Sultanpur Metro station), the first edition of the festival will be vibrant and experiential. The festival will see some very interesting acts being performed in Delhi.

SouthAsian Band Festival
Now in its seventh edition, the South Asian Band Festival has always had a cult following. Presented by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs and SEHER, the three-day music festival, at Purana Qila, will feature 14 popular rock bands from across nine nations of the sub-continent. This year will see the participation of Korea, which is an observer country to SAARC. Another highlight is a students’ band from Mumbai —What’s In The Name, which was the winner of the rock bands competition at IIT Mumbai in 2012. Apart from this, the festival will feature multilingual folk-rock band, The Raghu Dixit project, and the legendary rock band from Pakistan, Strings.
