Delhi has a better night life: DJ Aqeel

He has been behind the console across the country, but when it comes to choosing the best night out destination, Mumbai-based DJ Aqeel prefers Delhi over the Bollywood city. “Delhi has a better night life than Mumbai. Every moment spent in Delhi is good...people in Delhi like partying,” says Aqeel, who is coming out with Forever 2, the sequel to his hit album Forever with Universal Music.

Having given hit remixes such as the Shake it daddy mix, Tu hai wahi and Vaada karo, among others, Aqeel has cut an album after a considerable gap. “It is a special album for me as it’s my first album in three years. It again has remixes, but also comprises a couple of original compositions by the Indian House Mafia Band (featuring Bhangra singer Sukhbir and Dj Suketu),” says the DJ.

Ask him about the future of remixes in Hindi pop and Bollywood, and he says, “Remixes have been off for more than two-and-half years now, which is a pretty long gap. But I’m hoping that some good work will soon come again.”

As far as Bollywood is concerned, Aqeel is busy working on an original song for actor Ameesha Patel’s upcoming, yet untitled home production.
