After performing in Mumbai and Chennai, popular Australian percussionist Ben Walsh will greet the city with his self-created instruments today. Visiting the city after six years, Walsh is excited about his debut performance in the Capital. “Delhi is a very large, crazy and beautiful city. I will get a much younger crowd here,” he says.
A fan of Indian classical music, Walsh will present his first solo show titled, Loop Zero. “It is a theatrical show with a lot of dynamics, trance and drumming with heavy baselines accompanied by visuals. Moreover, I would be telling stories and performing pieces,” says the 37-year-old.
There’s more planned for the audience here. “I am planning a lot of visuals for Delhi, it’s going to be a unique show,” he informs.
Talking about his love for Indian music, Walsh says, “I am a fan of Indian music. I am more inclined towards traditional and folk music than Bollywood. I’m sure Indian audiences really enjoy my concerts as they are based on a lot of drumming and technology.”
After music, the next thing on his mind is Indian food. “I am fond of Indian food and I like to try different cuisines, but this time around I have a tight schedule, so I won’t get much time to roam around,” he says. Walsh also plans to conduct music workshops with kids as part of the project. “I want to add to their lives and experiences through my own stories and music,” he says.
