Highlight Story

Bollywood mixer, DJ Suketu is now gaining fame in the international circuit. Last year, he remixed a Sean Kingston song Beautiful girls and called it Bollywood girls.

Recently, he collaborated with Iyaz to remix Replay..., which caught American rapper and singer Flo Rida’s (real name Tramar Dillard) interest.

DJ Suketu expresses regret that he couldn’t meet the artiste when he had come to perform in Pune and Bangalore. “When Flo Rida came to India, he was looking for a remix artiste for his third album Only One Flo’s track Turn around (5, 4, 3, 2, ) for Asian markets. I am told he had heard the remix I did for Iyaz and so his manager got in touch with me through the music company,” says DJ Suketu.

He informs that in this album Flo Rida is not doing all the songs by himself. "He has collaborated with a lot of artistes like Akon, David Guetta and me in his album," he says.

Suketu likes Flo Rida’s Low... and Club can’t handle me... and says he plays the latter in his main set wherever he is DJing.

He says, “Flo Rida is a great artiste. Though, I am not a DJ who plays a lot of hip-hop music, what I like about him is that of late, he and some other hip-hop artistes internationally, have started making their songs on 128 and 130 kbpms, which is normally used for house music.”

Suketu goes on to add, “I have grown to like that kind of music a lot more now. Akon, Sean Kingston, Sean Paul have all started making their songs a little more fast-paced like The Black Eyed Peas’s Boom boom pow... or their new track The time dirty bit.... All their rap songs are now done on house bpm so it’s more dance-friendly and much easier for the DJ to mix it, listen to and play it.”

Besides his international collaborations, Suketu has also remixed for Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 3, Anees Bazmee’s No Problem earlier this year and will be heard in the Ajay Devgn starrer Toonpur Ka Superhero and in Race 2 next year.
