When Dilli ka munda Kailash Kher and rapper Hard Kaur dropped by at the HT City office recently, they were in mood for some mischief. Amid Punjabi banter and impromptu jugalbandi, the duo spoke of its plans for the new show.

What’s the concept of your show, IPL Rockstar?
KK: Most reality shows are wrigged... Ab naam toh nahin batayenge, par sab pehle se hi planned hota hai. But this one is unique; people who don’t watch cricket, unko bhi IPL ka tadka milega. It has no melodrama, no bakwaas by the judges and rona dhona by the contestants. It’ll only have performances by contestants, and the winner will get to perform at the IPL matches.

Tell us about your chemistry on the show.
HK:
Kailash jinne nikke utne teekhe ne. I get along better with him than Sukhwinderji (Singh, the other judge on the show), as he’s the only one who entertains me. We crack jokes in Punjabi and have fun! The show will be shot in the stadium full of fans and cricketers.

Will both of you perform at the end of the series?
KK: Yes, it will be a romanchak (entertaining) moment. I will sing to cheer up the teams but the winner of the show will hold court. Sadly, my wife Sheetal won’t be accompanying me there.

Have you had any quirky incidents with cricketers?
KK:
I was once passing by the place where men in blue were practising. Virender Sehwag saw us passing by and I overheard him saying, ‘Hey, see that’s Kailash Kher, the singer!’ I felt on top of the world to have such a great recognise me.
