South Korean rapper Psy, 34, who has taken the world by storm with his music video Gangnam Style, has vowed to perform his foot stomping hit topless if it reaches the top spot on US Billboard. The song has been viewed over a record 290 million times on YouTube, and set the Guinness World Record for being the Most Liked Video in the site’s history with 2.8 million likes.
“If it ranks number one in the Billboard chart, I will perform Gangnam Style topless in a place where everyone can watch,” Psy has said.
While pop rocker Pink has scored her first Billboard No. 1 album on Wednesday, it is to be seen if the rapper peels off, as promised, for a half-naked horsey dance. The K-pop (Korean pop) single went viral on the Internet and has been highly praised for its humorous, catchy rhythm, and unusual dance moves.
It has been shared online and commented about by numerous celebs such as Robbie Williams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, T-Pain, Katy Perry, and Tom Cruise, and covered by others such as Nelly Furtado and Maroon 5. Gangnam Style flash mobs are also breaking out across the world, while Psy is rubbing shoulders in the American circuit attending talk shows.
Even Britney Spears asked him to teach her his dance moves on the Ellen Degeneres Show. Psy, an unusually ‘chubby’ male artist, broke the stereotype in Korean pop music, otherwise ruled by female artists.
