This year, India’s premiere dance music festival, Sunburn 2010, offers attendees one more reason to celebrate. Three of the acts who will be spinning tunes at the event have scored nominations for the 2011 Grammy Awards.DJ BT has been nominated for Best Dance/ Electronic Album for These hopeful machines. Fellow Sunburn headliner, Nadia Ali scored a nod for Best Remixed Recording, non-classical for her work remixing Fantasy (Morgan Page Remix). Sharing a nomination in the same genre is Axel Hedfors and Dragan Roganovic for Sweet disposition.

Currently in the city for a gig, Brian Transeau, better known by his stage name BT, was pleasantly surprised to receive the news. “I’ve never felt better professionally,” he grins, “It’s the greatest honour because I’ve been brought up watching the Grammys. It feels so good now.” So will we get to hear some of his potentially award-winning tracks at the Goan beach festival in December? “I’m very excited to play my Grammy-nominated tracks at Sunburn,” he says. “It’s a festival that’s become recognised globally, and it’s a great opportunity to play here.”

Upon receiving the news that their headlining acts just took a bite out of the Grammys, Devraj Sanyal, CEO Percept Sports and Entertainment, which is organizing the festival, says “The Grammys are the world’s most prestigious music awards and to have our headlining acts nominated makes our talent showcase even more special. This reaffirms our faith in our ability to get the best in the world repeatedly.”
