Meet members of the band Daksh, that will soon perform in the city. Founder Kavish Mishra talks about the band and its music.
What genre of music do you play?
Hindi rock is our key genre. We also play Sufi rock. It’s an amazing concept which combines Sufi folk with rock music.
How did the band come together?
An awesome sense of Indian classical music brought us together.
Why this name?
‘Daksh’ is a Hindi term for the word dexterous, which implies perfection, doing something meticulously. We always aspire for perfect harmony in our music.
How many albums/songs do you have to your credit?
We have five original songs namely — Do Pal, Tu Hi, Tank and two music videos — Din Dooba and Hai Dua.
What according to you has been the most inspiring song, event and artist for the band?
AR Rahman’s music inspires us as a band. The way he plays with sounds and creates a fusion of Hindustani and Western instruments is magical.
Do you guys enjoy performing in Delhi? If yes, why?
Yes Yes Yes!! We’ve performed all over India, but we really enjoy performing in Delhi, not because its our home town, but because Delhiites sing along and have a keen knowledge of different musical genres and singers around the world.
Which is the best place in Delhi to make music?
Our studio in Laxmi Nagar. The fort and cosy cafes in Hauz Khas Village are also good.
