After spinning with the likes of rapper Jay-Z, Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West, Coldplay among a list of many more, New York based cut-and-scratch specialist DJ Neil Armstrong is now all set to spin a hip-hop storm in the Capital. “I’ve never been to India before, but Bhangra hip-hop is big in NYC, so I think I’ll be able to play beats that will go down well with the crowd,” he says. Armstrong hit it big after he played at President Barack Obama’s inauguration ball in 2009 (incidentally, that’s where Jay-Z asked him to come on tour with him).

Bring up the raunchy image now associated with hip-hop artists and Armstrong retorts, “Mainstream hip-hop is now just about marketing, whereas underground/club style is all about the music. Let’s not generalise.” Besides music, his to-do-list in the Capital includes loads of shopping. “I do have a long list ... hopefully, I’ll get time to try and follow it up,” he says.

Armstrong will perform in Delhi on June 4 at F Bar & Lounge as a part of the Tuborg Vh1 Hip Hop Hustle Tour.
