‘I’m excited to come back’
Says world number two DJ Tiësto, adds that this is the best time for electronic dance music
It is not easy being the world’s number two DJ. Staying ahead of the pack requires facing pressures on a daily basis, but DJ Tiësto tells us that his challenges have been mostly “positive”.
“Dance music is at an all time high and there are so many great artistes and opportunities out there right now. I’m always inspired by the dance industry and it helps me evolve my own sound. Also, there are so many technologies to help with the production and creativity process,” says Tiësto, who performed at a concert in the city on Friday. As part of his tour, he will be playing in Bengaluru on March 30 and in Delhi on March 31.
Having performed in India before, Tiësto has only seen his audience expanding over the years. “India is a special part of the world. It’s been a while since my last show. Recently, some DJs told me some great things. So I’m always excited to come back to India,” he says.
Thanks to electronic dance music concerts growing in scale, things continue to look bright for artistes like him. The past few months have seen some of the biggest acts from around the globe, such as Armin Van Buuren, Swedish House Mafia, Above & Beyond and
others performing multi-city tours in the country. Besides touring, Tiësto, who will be using the AKG line of headphones for the show, has also been spending time producing fresh material. “I’m working on a new compilation and my artist album,” he says.
