Neeti Mohan loves everything about her singing career but she confesses that her perception about the Indian film industry was very different when she was just a listener. “I used to feel differently about Bollywood songs when I was on the other side of the table. Earlier I was just audience and would listen to tracks which appealed me and ignore the intricacies that went into making of that song. It was not very tough to judge a track. Now things have changed for me and as a singer I look at every track and understand the kind of hardwork which has gone into this which makes me fall in love with my profession even more,” says Mohan, who has given hit tracks such as Jiya Re, Ishq Wala Love, Nazar Laaye and Har Kisi Ko.
Talking about the kind of exposure she has got after becoming a successful singer, Mohan says, “I know now exactly how a song is made and this has changed my whole process of listening to music and understanding it.”

The 36-year-old singer adds, “Now I sit with the director before recording the song and understand the character I singing for. It is not as simple as people think it is and I can vouch for every singer.”
While many tracks go on to break records, others tend to go unnoticed by listeners and Mohan feels it is all about luck. “Singers record every track with equal or more hardwork. Sometimes while recording a song we feel that it is going to be a great hit but when it gets released, it does not score well. Everything depends on the fans and timings. I wish we could predict the future of the song but unfortunately we can’t,” she says.
