Highlight Story

With the the objective of reaching out to all and sundry, the annual management and cultural fest of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade will kick off today. The three-day festival called, Quo Vadis, will see management and Delhi University’s students participating in a host of cultural and geeky events.

“This is our biggest festival ever, both in terms of prize money and the scale of cultural events,” says Sulabh Vij, one of the coordinators of the festival, which will have two star nights this year. Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and Farhaan, the lead vocalist of the Pakistani rock band Jal, will mesmerise students with their soulful voice during these two nights.

Day one will host the War of Bands, which will see performance from Hindi rock, heavy metal and soft rock among others. “47 entries of professional hands were received for this event. Stripes, a Gurgaon based band and five other bands from Delhi have been shortlisted for top seven,” adds Vij.

The fest will witness the unveiling of college’s official band, and launch of its flagship event — International Paper Writing Contest — for which it has received entries from countries such as Pakistan, US and Europe.

Students will also get a chance to show their acting calibre, as 19 teams from different colleges will compete in Avahavan — a street play competition.

Armageddon, a gaming event where participants will play games such as Counter Strike and Need For Speed, is also likely to be a hit among students. Also up the schedule is Ad Mad, Ghanta Avenue, Speechless and Spellbound among others.

While entry to the star nights is only through passes, one can participate in other events by showing identity proof.
