Electronic dance music (EDM) now has a new destination-India. And that is great news for music fans. With global EDM artists and groups such as Tiesto, Gareth Emery, Infected Mushroom, Swedish House Mafia and many others having performed in the country already, India’s presence in the global electronic music scene is there for everyone to see.

The roots of electronic music in India began taking shape in the early 90s- thanks to Goa Trance, which was then known as electronic body music. However it wasn’t until 2007, when India observed its first ever international music festival, and since then, the country has only gone ahead and made a mark in this music genre.

With a number of music festivals dedicated solely to electronic music and with faraway remote places like Parvati valley (Himachal Pradesh), Gokarna (Karnataka) also hosting such events, India has become the next preferred destination for EDM artists from around the globe to perform in.

Also, with the number of in-house artists and groups coming up, the country looks all set to produce some quality electronic dance music in the coming days.
