Internet has put Indian musicians on the global map, says Ehsaan Noorani

Ehsaan Noorani of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio believes internet is the reason behind increasing number of Indian musicians collaborating with international stars.

Popular music composer Ehsaan Noorani credits the advent of internet and technology for the increasing number of collaborations between Indian musicians and international stars. In the last month, as many as four collaborations have been announced between music stars from India and the West.

The 52-year-old guitarist, feels internet has also helped in promotion of Indian music in other parts of the world and that has also helped musicians get acquainted with international artists.

“Internet has helped people collaborate,” he says. Ehsan who is a part of popular music composing trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, says, “I was in Los Angeles when I met Jeff Baxter, the famous guitarist. When I introduced myself, he told me ‘I know you. I have seen you on internet . You are the one with the white cat right,’? That felt wonderful,” he says.

Ehsaan will be soon seen judging the second season of the reality show The Stage. “It’s a fantastic feeling when top guys from around the world can connect with each other and bounce off ideas over the net. Plus, the fact that it is also one medium to promote your own music without being attached to any music label,” Ehsan adds.
