DJ Bob Sinclar talks about his love for the Capital and what he has planned for his visit here. After getting some of the biggest stars to dance to his tunes, DJ Bob Sinclar is now going to get Delhi dancing. Sinclar, who will be performing here this weekend, talks to us about his work and travels.
Is this is your first time in Delhi? How was your experience so far?
This is my second time in India. I was touring India last year and I met some really nice people here. I was very surprised by the warm welcome that I got from the people and the way they sang along with my tracks.
We had many locals mixed with expats. I love New Delhi and it is a great opportunity to come back to the city.
What sort of playlist have you planned for the Delhi event?
Every year, I update the music of all my classics, from Love Generation to Rock This Party and World Hold On, because the people expect me to play these tracks. But I am also excited to play some new stuff. I have a brand new album coming in January called Disco Crash.
Can you tell us about the album?
The new album features Pitbull, Snoop Dog, Sean Paul, Sophie Ellie-Baxter and many more. The first single, Rock The Boat, with Pitbull, will be launched in December.
What do you listen to when you are alone and not clubbing?
My iPod is mainly about classics, from jazz to hip hop, to soul and dance music. This year, the ADELE album was very inspiring for me. For me, it was the album of the year.
Is there any Indian artist/DJ you know about? Any plans to collaborate with some indian singer/DJ?
I am a big fan of Ravi Shankar. I did a few tracks mixed with sitar, as I really love the Indian culture. I think the DJ scene here is quite cool and happening. So, I am curious to see which local DJ will explode on the scene.
Bob Sinclar is your DJ name. Can you tell us how you selected this name?
Actually, I wanted to create a disco character. I was a big fan of the French movie, Le Magnifique. It was a movie about a James Bond character, done in a very comical way. The name of the hero was Bob Sinclar. And I decided to take up the name to create my alter ego.
I did it as a joke at the beginning and then it became my artist name.
