Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her whole world’s come undone
From lookin’ straight at the sun
What did her daddy do?
What did he put you through?
They said when Janie was arrested
they found him underneath a train
But man, he had it comin’ Now that Janie’s got a gun
she ain’t never gonna be the same.
So begins Aerosmith’s classic Janie’s Got a Gun, an anthemic tale of an abused girl. Now, Steven Tyler, lead vocalist, has launched a new initiative to give voice to victims of abuse called Janie’s Fund.
About the initiative, the rockstar tells Rolling Stone magazine, “As a father and grandfather, I want to focus my energy on things that really matter and leave behind something else in this crazy world along with my music. I am starting Janie’s Fund to give a voice to the millions of victims who haven’t had one and encourage everyone to join me on this mission.”

For those who donate to the fund Tyler has set up a few rewards that range from t-shirts to ‘star’ donors who donate $50 to a VIP Mardi Gras experience for the ‘big kahuna’ donors with $25,000.
Fans of Tyler’s would immediately associate him to his trademark scarfed microphone stands. For those who donate $75,000, Tyler promises one of those mic stands, complete with a working mic along with a dinner.
All donors will be added to The Ultimate VIP Rock Experience With Steven Tyler raffle which includes accompanying the star at the red carpet premiere of his new album.
“Now...We can’t undo what’s been done by abuse in this country...but we can let these girls know they are loved, get them the help they need, and assure them that there is much light at the end of the tunnel,” concludes Tyler.
