Jubin Nautiyal’s latest song, Baarish, from Half Girlfriend has also been a hit with music lovers.

Singer Jubin Nautiyal admits that ever since The Humma song from OK Jaanu (2017) starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor became a hit among the audience, his fan following has also gone up. He has been getting emails, not just from his fans in India, but also abroad. “It feels awesome. It’s not everyday that you get to sing songs that do so well. When it does, it feels wonderful,” he says, adding, “People have been writing to me (via emails and social media platforms) about how much they loved the song. Some have even praised my voice. All this makes me feel that my efforts are getting noticed.”

However, Jubin isn’t always fishing for compliments and is open to criticism as well—but genuine. “There are a few, who have also told me that they liked the older version of the song [Humma Humma] better. I didn’t feel bad because everyone is entitled to an opinion. Genuine criticism is important, as it helps one to grow and do better,” adds Jubin, who feels he is better equipped to sing romantic numbers. But he is quick to add: “I don’t want to restrict myself to any particular genre. I want to sing different songs, especially after the Humma song, I realised that my fans would love to hear me singing various kinds of tracks, so I am keeping my options open.”

Ask him which among his recent songs is the closest to his heart, Jubin replies, “Kaabil Hoon [Kaabil], Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata [Bajrangi Bhaijaan] and all the three songs I have sung for Akshay Kumar are my favourites.”
