In the present Bollywood music scene, singer Kanika Kapoor has turned into a voice with a midas touch, whatever she sings becomes a hit. First it was Baby Doll in Ragini MMS 2 (2014), then Lovely in Happy New Year (2014) and now it's Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan from Roy. She has a slew of songs coming up; with Sunny Leone's next she is also turning composer. "I sing from my heart and I guess I am able to read the song well. It's also the tune of the song that has to connect with the audience," opines Kanika on why her songs become a hit.

The London-based singer also prefers to work on a few projects at a time. Kanika considers composer Manmmet Singh of Meet Bros, with whom she has sung Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan as her rakhee brother, Manmeet and Kanika's brother went to the same school.

On turning composer she says that it is a combined effort of Dr Zeus, who has arranged the song and Kumar, who has written the lyrics. "I gave the song to producer Bhushan Kumar and I will appear in the remix version of the song," says Kanika.

At a time when live shows have become the bread and butter for an artist, and a singer has to pay attention to his or her looks and style, Kanika feels that it puts a lot of pressure on the singer. The glamorous singer prefers the rock-chic look on stage and she prefers to style herself.
