American pop singer Katy Perry, 27, who landed in India on Monday afternoon for her performance at the Indian Premier League 5’s opening ceremony, is enjoying her stay.
“I am so honoured to play in Chennai... My first performance in India,” said Perry, who headed to Taj Coromandel, Chennai, from the airport.
She was given a traditional aarti and teeka welcome, and was gifted a deep blue ponnadai (shawl). After relaxing in her Royal Suite, she was seen in the lobby in a summer dress and a bindi. Perry later dined at the hotel’s restaurant, Southern Spice, and ate delicacies such as More Kali Uppu Urundai, Denji Rawa Fry, Kozhi Ghee Roast, Alleppey Fish Curry, parotas and appams.
She said the Elaneer Payasam served to her was the “most refreshing dessert she’s ever eaten.”
