Hip-hop star M.I.A. has denied naming her newborn baby Ickitt on her MySpace page.
She criticised the press for spreading the rumour that she had given the odd name to her little son.
"My baby is not called Ickitt, Pickit or Lickit," the New York Daily News quoted her as writing in all caps.
"Thank you very much to all the Hollywood press. He's a baby, he don't need press!" she added.
The erroneous report that M.I.A. and her musician fiance Benjamin Brewer named the infant Ickitt spread online soon after it first appeared on Latina.com, with many trying to determine what Ickitt means.
Many reports even said that M.I.A. had joined the ranks of other celebrities who have given their children odd names—such as Gwyneth Paltrow naming her and daughter Apple, and Nicolas Cage and his son Kal-El.
Though the singer has clarified the error on her MySpace page, she has not released any name for her son as yet.
"I didn''t release the baby name because I didn''t think it was news," she wrote.
"But I will be back with something news worthy soon, till then go pick on Apple, Satchel and Moon Unit," she added.
