Sir, can our leader, our hero call a spade a spade for once. And if nothing else, a smile will bring a nation besieged by scams great cheer," is the message Palash Sen of Euphoria wants to convey to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "The song talks about Singh’s silent persona and his gloomy expression. A smiling leader of the nation with reassuring words can bring hope to a nation," he adds.
So why has Sen targeted only the PM, who is one of the few Indian politicians with a clean image? "A poet could find one small muse amongst a million options. The PM is my hero but I find his silence and his glum expression irksome. His silence on the rampant corruption and his sad face in all public appearances inspired me. Through this song, I want him to know he shouldn’t fear anyone and we as a nation back him," Sen says. To be released in July, the song is part of Euphoria’s fifth studio album.
Gumsum The Lyrics
Raat bhar dooba rahe tu, apne saagar mein..
Pyaasi phir bhi kyun, teri woh duniya?
Khaali sa ghar hai tera, khaali har subah hai..
Kisi kone me rakhi hai khushiyaan..
Khol de saare darwaaze, tod de man ke woh taale,
Hai akela hi kyun, chup sa hi kyun?
Gumsum, gumsum aaha..
Aa dekhoon, dekhun kya hai maslaa,
Naa jaanu, jaanu main sach hai kya..
Thaa jo, tere mann me bhool ja..
Gumsum raho naa..
Chhota saa yeh jahaan hai, zaraa si zindagi,
Bheed me bhi tanha tanha sa rahe
Kuch bhi na tu sang laaya, kya leke tu jaayega?
Zaraa hans le tu, chup sa hi kyun tu?
Gumsum, gum, aaha..
Chupp chup si deewaron ko, tod ke haan, khaamoshi tu hothon pe laa..
Tere lavzon se jab goonjega yeh aalam..
Naa reh paayega tu,
Gumsum gumsum, ahaa..
