Delhi-based electronic outfit Midivial Punditz has been consistent when it comes to releasing new music. The duo of Tapan Raj and Gaurav Raina will be releasing their fourth album, Lights, in April, and are excited about its release.
Just like their previous albums, this time too, they have worked with a variety of musicians including flautist Pt Ajay Prasanna, Rajasthani folk stalwart Kutle Khan, Hindustani classical singer Malini Awasthi and singer Papon for different songs on the album. "Our music predominantly has been collaboration based from the beginning. We aspire to work with varied artists from all over the world depending on the song we are composing," says Raj.
"In this age of the internet, it's very easy to share our ideas with other artists. We are often involved in the process of exchanging files till we arrive at a concrete direction," he adds.
Interestingly enough, the duo also believes that due to technology and internet, selling albums will not give them any financial stability. "Most electronic musicians like us know that album sales are not going to be the main revenue source and it's the live shows that will sustain us from a financial standpoint," says Raj, further adding, "Also, the main reason we make music is to experience the thrill of sharing it with a live audience. The shows are a huge driving factor for keeping us inspired to write new music."
