So what if Sheila’s all over the television, Munni still rules the mobile phone. The hit item number from Dabangg, Munni Badnam Hui is the most downloaded song on cellphones this year, says a survey done by cellular service provider, Airtel.

Mobitude 2010, a study of the preferences of over 150 million mobile phone users of the service across India, reveals that the song, starring Malaika Arora Khan, was the most popular, followed by Tere Mast Mast Do Nain, also from the same movie. A total of 225 million songs were downloaded during 2010.

And, if you wondered why the network jammed on Diwali, it was because a whopping 12 billion SMSes were exchanged on the festival alone, out of a total SMS traffic of over 90 billion this year. Out of the 25 million images and wallpapers downloaded, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan were the most popular. Among sportspersons, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar retained the number one spot, followed by MS Dhoni. Tennis champ Sania Mirza ranked first in the female category.
