Highlight Story

Naraaz Mausam, a lounge track by Delhi-born, US settled singer Devika Chawla, 34, is the new rage on YouTube. Chawla’s channel has got over one million hits.

The composition is a result of Chawla’s collaboration with Zohaib Kazi from Coke Studio Pakistan. Interestingly, the two have never met, but got together over Skype and Gtalk. “Since I was in the US and Zohaib was in Pakistan, the project started with us brainstorming on Skype.” says Chawla. The track was completed in five months. “We didn’t want to rush. We had to at times prioritise other projects, and work around time zone differences,” she adds.

Chawla, who grew up in Delhi and went to Modern School Barakhamba, says, “I have family and friends in Delhi, so it is still home.” A meeting with Kazi is on the cards.
