He’s young, talented, and has girls swooning over his good looks. DJ Michael Canitrot from France is only 28, but his achievements are many. The music producer, who started DJing at the age of 10, has customised music for fashion shows of international luxury brands and is also the official DJ for the Cannes Film Festival since 2003. Canitrot is now bringing his music to India for the first time and will be performing in the Capital today.

“My first break in the electronic music scene came in 1997 when I performed with Daft Punk. In 2000, I did my first gig at Les Bains Douches, a legendary club in Paris,” says Canitrot who grew up listening to soul, funk, disco and rock.

“I’m really excited to perform in India for the first time. Playing to a new audience is always challenging, but I will play all my new tracks and some recent singles such as White Escape and Blue Collision to give you the vibe of house music that’s straight from Paris,” he says.

As to his knowledge about Bollywood stars and Indian music, Canitrot says, “I have seen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the Cannes Film Festival and I was totally hypnotised by her beauty. As for Indian songs, I have heard some really good tracks.”

Canitrot is currently working on a new single for the Playboy magazine.
