The Brown Sugar hitmakers unveiled the sleek new take on their classic tongue-and-lips design to mark their half-century in rock 'n' roll, reports dailystar.co.uk.

The launch of the logo was strategically planned ahead of a string of celebratory gigs later this year.

Fairey, best known for designing US President Barack Obama's Hope posters, has added a circular red and white banner reading The Rolling Stones - Fifty Years, and incorporated the number 50 into the band's name.

The tongue, created by art student John Pasche, first appeared on the Stones' Sticky Fingers album sleeve in 1971.
