According to singer-music composer Anu Mallik the first recepient of the Asha Bhosle award was Lata Mangeshkar herself. And that fact makes the award most precious to him.
Mallik, who has been involved in hosting two TV shows — Indian Idol and Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega — for a while now, has only heard that he has been selected as one of the most popular faces on Indian television. But he is thrilled nonetheless. "Both the shows have been hits, I can’t believe it. The TRP’s speak for themselves. Then there was a sudden word that I had been voted as one of TV’s most popular faces. This month has been crazy, from getting such a prestigious award to being called popular, it feels great."
He just finished composing two songs for Samir Karnik’s Yamla, Pagla, Deewana, which stars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra. Mallik is also working on Rajkumar Santoshi’s Power. Talking about the music he has created he says. "One song from Yamla, Pagla, Deewana is a folkish number, and another one is a happening, peppy one, picturised on Bobby and a new girl called Mehek."
Meanwhile, Mallik has also spoken of his interest in starting a reality show of his own. He says, "I don’t know about that yet. Let me go with the flow for now. All I know is that people have loved me, my judgement and my honesty. For now I am into music with these projects."
He may also soon be seen in a collaborative project with his daughter Anmol, who sang the song ‘Main talli ho gayee…’ for the film Pyar Ke Side Effects. “She wanted to go and study, but she will be back soon. The Talli song was really appreciated and there should be something coming from her also. All I can do is bless her as a father”
