Electronic dance music (EDM) fans in the city don’t need to wait for Sunburn in Goa to get their fix of new and interesting acts from this ever-expanding genre. Pune is the latest city to host its first EDM fest called ‘A Day Off’ today, with more than 15 national and international acts performing under one roof.

“Until now, Pune didn’t have its own festival like other places such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Goa and Mumbai, despite housing a great audience for it. So we thought of putting together this fest, which will feature some of the most versatile acts around,” says Vinay Pawar, owner, Destiny Of Sound, the organisation hosting the festival.

A Day Off will be headlined by British singer-songwriter Richard Bedford, who is best known for his collaboration with trance artistes Above & Beyond on their 2006 album Tri-State, including the popular song Sun & Moon…’. Some of the other artistes who will be performing include Brute Force aka DJ Tuhin Mehta, MH12 and DJ Agnel.

To attract ladies to the fest, the organisers have also put together a special segment from 12 to 3 pm where women will be offered free wine, foot massages, nail art and hair styling. Says Pawar, “We included this special feature because we wanted this affair to have something for everyone.”
