Ram Sampath, now popular for his DK Bose number from one the year’s bigger hits, Delhi Belly, will compose the soundtrack for Navdeep Singh’s Rock The Shaadi. After the Aamir Khan production’s success, the composer was supposedly offered11 films in a row but he opted to work on the score of Rock The Shaadi since he was fascinated by film’s plot that also promised ample scope for innovative songs and genre-based combos. The Ekta Kapoor production is the first time that Ram would create Punjabi numbers keeping a wedding in mind.
Sampath says: “Initially, I was supposed to create only one track for the Delhi Belly album. But as we went along, we created so many of them in varied genres. The process was exhilarating. Ekta’s brief for the score here is funky and unusual which excited me a lot.”
Rock The Shaadi, revolves around a fun Punjabi wedding. The film toplines Abhay Deol and Genelia D’Souza. Abhay’s girlfriend Preeti Desai will be seen in a cameo of sorts. The project is likely to go on floors in a month or two with the current title suggested by the film’s hero, who is also rumoured to be doing an item number in the movie.
