Rock fans in the city have yet another reason to cheer, as six bands will be performing at a single event in October end. The music extravaganza will be held at the same time when the Formula One Grand Prix is kicked off in the city.

The performances will be held at Motor Match – an event that will bring auto companies together at an exhibition. Interestingly, the event falls on the weekend when Delhi will host the debut live performance by American heavy metal band Metallica. It will host live music performances by bands such as Faridkot, Advaita, Them Clones, Mob Marley, Indigo Children and Rishi Inc.

The organisers say that the event will be grander than the previous years. “It’s a motor show at its heart and it’s very much a part of the biggest motoring event in the history of the city. To catch up on the mood, we have included music performances too,” says Dhruv Behl, Director, Exhibition India Group.

“We are really looking forward to perform at a time when the entire city is geared up for a rock mania. The crowd can look forward to some of our popular tracks such as, Triangulation,” says Sanchal Malhar, the lead vocalist of the Delhi-based band, Indigo Children.

The event, which will be held next to the Buddh Circuit, will also have live screenings of the Formula One race. “This time, we are going to play for a different audience. It’s not only going to be music enthusiasts but also people who would be coming for the motor event,” says Akshay Raheja, who plays the keyboard for Faridkot. The band will be playing their hits like Haal-e-dil, Laila and Beparwah Sanam at the event.

“We are looking forward to an exhilarating performance. Our song list would comprise numbers such as Rasiya,” says Anindo Bose of the Delhi-based band Advaita, which has eight members.

The face of the event will be Indian Formula One driver Karun Chandhok. Also, ex-F1 driver, Sigfried Stohr, and his team of professionals from Italy, will be flown in especially to supervise test drives for participants of the event.
