Richard MarxRichard Marx, the voice behind such evergreen hits like Right Here Waiting and Hazard will be performing live tonight in Delhi at the Rock In India festival along with Backstreet Boys and others. The velvet voice spoke to HT City just before starting his India tour.

This is Marx’s second visit to India but a first in terms of a major gig. And he is already sad for not being able to explore tha country much. “I was invited to perform at a private event about two years ago in Mumbai. I was only there for a day but I met some wonderful people. I found out that many people in India knew my music. So I’m very anxious to come and perform there.”

Marx adds, “I really know very little about India and the music. But I'm certainly aware of some of the Indian music that got attention in the US… like Cheb Mami, and of course the great music from Slumdog Millionaire.”

This 47-year-old shows no signs of slowing down. “I never know from one month to the next where I’m going to go musically, so it’s impossible to predict," he signs off.

Marx checked into Sheraton, Saket, early morning yesterday and is staying on the 7th floor — a complete non-smokers zone.
