Saif Ali Khan and Pritam will be seen jamming on the guitar and belting out the song Yeh dooriyan… from Love Aaj Kal as the finale performance at the Global India Music Awards held in association with Hindustan Times.
The duo reportedly practiced for the jam session all night at Yashraj Studios after the event, which was held earlier this month. "We played together till 6.30 am. There is a one-a-half minute jam on the guitar followed by a song," says Pritam.
The awards night will be aired on Colors today, from 8 pm onwards.
Also slated to perform on Race sanson ki… from Race, Khan convinced the producers of the show and Pritam to drop the song, as it was a heavy number and he would look "funny" belting it out in front of Lata Mangeshkar and other music biggies present at the award ceremony.
Confirming the news, Pritam says, "Saif was right, belting out a rock song from Race would have looked hilarious and inappropriate. So we decided to do the jamming session instead of the second song."
Pritam commends Saif’s skills on the guitar. “His sense of humour kept everyone in good spirits though we were shooting all night. Every time something went wrong, he cracked jokes. It was fun,” he says. Khan, particular about getting the music right, was okay with spending more time practicing and kept checking the shots on the monitor before he retired for the day in the wee hours of the morning.
The Chhote Nawab was first seen strumming his guitar at a rock show where he jammed live with the popular rock band Parikrama in 2008. His tattoo with Kareena written in Devanagri script was revealed back then and made more news than the concert itself. Subir Malik of Parikrama had given Saif’s performance a perfect 10.
Incidentally, actor Aamir Khan has also surprised many with his drum set skills at a promotional event for Peepli Live.
