Director Omung Kumar’s upcoming film Sarbjit has garnered attention for its storyline. Now we hear that singers Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan and Sukhwinder Singh were so touched by the film that they did not charge any money for singing.
“I sang for free in Sarbjit due to the love I have for the entire team and the topic. The producers Bhushan Kumar, Sandeep Singh and music composer Jeet Gannguli are like family. I have just got to know Omung through the song recording. Money is secondary,” says Nigam, who has sung the track Dard in the film.
Chauhan, who has sung the track, Tung Lak in the film shares her experience while recording and says, “I left with such a good feeling after recording this song that later I didn’t feel like talking about money, and that’s it. You get this kind of feeling only sometimes. It’s the least I can do for the suffering of so many people who get trapped and jailed out of ignorance around the world . May the film bring the issue forward for all to see and raise the right questions.”
The film is based on the life of Sarbjit Singh, who was arrested by Pakistani authorities on suspicion of being an Indian spy.
