In January, Shaan and his wife, Radhika Mukherji, set up a library-cum-study room for underprivileged girls in the city. Then, in April, the singer performed atop a bus to promote Radhika’s latest initiative that aims to promote upcoming musicians. Now, Shaan has sung a single that is dedicated to the Indian government’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. Titled Meri Pyaari Gudiya, the song has been composed by music director and former reality show participant Abhijit Ghoshal.
“When I heard the song, I liked it instantly. And when I was told that it was for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, that made it more special for me. I am happy to be associated with the track. I am proud that I could be part of the campaign that aims to tell people how important it is to save a girl child and educate her,” says Shaan.
Abhijit, too, is glad that Shaan came on board. “I knew that Shaan would be apt for this song. Though he was really busy, I am glad that he could take time out for this project, and everything fell in place,” he says. The singer as well as the composer hasn’t charged any fee for the number.
