Composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy Tuesday launched an iPhone application in their name to reach out to their fans, thus becoming the first to do so.
"It's time to be knowledgeable about the trends and see a little bit of the future. We are always in awe of iPhone and iPad applications, so we thought why not we have our own applications? It's a first of its kind in our country and I am sure once people will start downloading the application, they will love it," Shankar told reporters Tuesday at a press meet at Novotel Hotel.
Loy said: "It's like a paradigm shift. Like Shankar rightfully said we are really very young country, we really need to accelerate and we are happy to be the part of the whole process. Lots of people are pretty curious to know how music is composed, so may be we would upload small clips showing us working inside the studio with various artistes. People love to know what's happening behind the scenes."
Apart from sharing news and videos and giving a rare insight to how music is composed, the trio might seek people's views on their new compositions before finalising it for any future project through the application.
"It's not all tunes, of course. But if we feel that we should take people's view on a certain composition, we may put out that tune on this application," Shankar told IANS.Asked if there is mixed reaction, he said: "Then we will take a call."
Shankar insists the application will contain exclusive materials, but not necessarily film music.
"See, we would like to reach out to our fans and the people who like our music, not only through our film music. Film music is one avenue through which we can reach out, but through an application like this, doing songs, which are not necessarily film songs, giving them material, which are exclusive and available only here," said Shankar.
