Kailash Kher clearly says that he doesn’t want to be a “self-centered celebrity”. That’s why in one night, the man penned down a song that he readied with music et al, and performed for the common man at Azad Maidan on Friday to celebrate the victory of Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption.
The song called ‘
Ambar tak yahi naad gunjega…
’ expresses the singer-composer’s vision and views on today’s youth and what they’re capable of. “The thought behind the song is very genuine. And one thing I have always said is that I will stand by the honest and support them my entire life. In such moments, when people are making the right kind of noise, I would love to add to it,” says Kher, who is famously known for his intoxicating voice. “I will sing for Anna, and this track will go down in history for him.”
Stressing on each word, Kher summarises what the song literally and figuratively means, “‘Do not pretend to be half awake, step up and fight in this moment. The youth will take the light forward, and I, a citizen, will stand by you, Anna.’ Something like this is the theme,” he explains.
Though what album the song will eventually be part of isn’t decided yet, he confirms that it will be soon. “I hope the song inspires the youth, it is meant to be thought provoking,” he says, adding that this revolution that was brought about in a matter of days is just the beginning. “Issues like these cannot be fought overnight. We all have a long way to go and we have to ensure that our storm of thoughts and actions stands strong till then. This will be a test for those who are all talk.”
