Promising clubbers a heady mix of music and glamour tonight will be DJ Claudia Cazacu. The number one female DJ in the world is also the only woman to figure in the Top 100 DJ Mag poll 2010.

Currently on her ‘Destiny of Sounds’ three-city India tour, Cazacu admits she couldn’t be happier to be back in the country for the second time. “India has a special spiritual attraction and is so rich in culture that I’m really excited to be spending more time during this visit,” exclaims the Romania-born artiste, who moved to UK in 2004 and has been a regular on the club circuit ever since. Tonight, as she gets behind the turntables, she will dish out heavy tech-house and trance tracks. After her Mumbai gig, she will be heading to Pune and Chennai.

Ask her what it means to figure in the prestigious poll, and she retorts, “I was just blown away last year to receive such support from my fans. It’s every DJ’s desire to be among the Top 100 DJs and I’m extremely grateful to everyone who appreciated my work enough to vote for me.” Cazacu’s name features alongside electronic-music heavyweights like Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Tiesto and more, who have frequented nightclubs around the world including party capitals like Ibiza.

Last year kept the DJ-producer busy with eight original releases, three remixes and two compilation albums. Her 2009 anthem Freefalling featuring Audrey Gallagher saw her rising up the DJ ranks within just four years of starting her career as a producer. Known for her great looks as much as for her music, Cazacu says that being a fitness freak is her mantra to staying in good shape. “I work very hard in the gym! I really love to exercise and even take martial arts lessons when I have time,” she says.

Cazacu also runs her own label Couture and presents a monthly radio show and podcast Haute Couture from UK, which is currently aired on 14 stations worldwide. The talented spinner also has a word of advice for aspiring DJs, especially female DJs in the country, “Work hard! I believe that no matter what you want from life, if you submerge yourself in it, work hard and surround yourself with the right people, you will achieve your goals,” she says.
