Highlight Story

She had the most powerful voice among the five members of Viva. Yet Mahua has remained the least heard or seen after the group split.

Engaged
The singing sensation is now making a comeback as a playback singer in Rohit Shetty's star-studded Sunday.

Mahua is delighted with the break. "I've sung the title track. It all happened because music director Sandeep Chowta had such confidence in my voice," she asserts. <b1>

Where was she so long and why is she making such a late entry into playback? Pat comes the reply, "I was busy with live shows. Also, I got engaged and was settling down. Now I plan to concentrate on my singing career."

The singer is the third Viva girl to make her entry into playback. The first was Neha Bhasin. Then Anushka Manchanda made her debut as a playback singer in another Rohit Shetty movie, Golmaal, a couple of years ago.

Surprise
"Chowta who was a judge at Channel V Popstars, has always been most encouraging. The offer for Sunday came to me all of a sudden when I was sitting with my friends at a coffee shop," Mahua says.

The singer laments the disbanding of Viva despite both its albums being huge hits. "I am in touch with Anushka and Pratichee. We go for live together,” she says.

Future Plans
The members of Viva are now mostly focusing on building solo careers. Mahua plans to concentrate on both playback and live concerts. "I've been a live performer since I was a child. I can't do without it," she says.

An album is on the anvil too. However, Mahua's debut song, which has gone on to become a hit, has resulted in several offers, which might delay the album for a while.
